We really should have published this a few months ago when our Nynja flew for the first time, but to be honest, we’ve been having too much fun flying it! The aircraft took to the air for the first time at the beginning of April and flew very well. We had two minor issues to deal with, an intermittent RPM gauge and the aircraft pulled slightly to the left in level flight. We were pretty happy with the results, everything else was flawless. Our Kanardia Engine Management System also contains an RPM gauge so we decided the extra Rotax gauge was not necessary so we replaced it with a slip ball. The pulling to the left was also easily solved with the +5mm strut end. This can be placed at the top of the struts on one side or the other to even out the angle of incidence of each wing and eliminate the roll tendency.

With a successful flight test complete, the paperwork was submitted to the IAA via the NMAI Tech Office and after a few weeks we had our new permit in hand. With all the paperwork in order the aircraft was flown to its new home at Limetree Airfield. Its first big outing was the NMAI AGM and BBQ at the end of May where the aircraft was very well received. Our panel in particular, made up of Kanardia instruments, has been particularly admired. We had the pleasure of bringing lots of people flying over that weekend but if you haven’t had a chance yet, feel free to get in touch and we can organise a flight.

We have managed to visit many of the fly-ins over the summer and I’m sure many of you have admired the aircraft up close or even got a chance to fly in it. Expect to see us at plenty more events, if you see us, feel free to come over to say hello.

Steve, Mark & Mark!

A plane is born, what a beauty!
