The proven ATR833 has been produced for more than 10 years at f.u.n.k.e. AVIONICS. It was replaced in early
2017 by the ATR833 Mark-II. Starting in the second quarter of 2018, the flat-panel version of the ATR833A will also
be updated. The ATR833A-II corresponds technically to the ATR833-II circular radio.
The Mark-II circular devices are available in the display versions OLED and LCD, the flat device is only offered with
the OLED display. The design and operation match to the flat transponder TRT800A. Thus, f.u.n.k.e. AVIONICS
offers beside the 2¼ “round devices a corresponding flat-panel radio and transponder combination
The development results from the S- and Mk-II circular devices have been adopted in the new series, which means
that the ATR833A-II also incorporates a digitized signal and audio processing.
Differences to the predecessor ATR833A
A pilot will hardly notice the changes to the ATR833A-II. The controls, the dimensions, the weight and the
mounting are identical to its predecessor. In the display and in the operating menu, the ATR833A-II radio differs
only slightly from the ATR833A. Additional settings for microphone sensitivity and for an individual volume control
are available. New is the recording and playback feature of the last 9 seconds of an incoming radio message.
In the following points, the ATR833A-II differs technically from its predecessor ATR833A:
1.The ATR833A-II incorporates a wide range power supply and can be supplied within a range of
11.0 to 30.0 Volts.
2. The ATR833A-II automatically detects if a dynamic or standard microphone (electret) is connected. There are
also 4 microphone inputs available, but these are bridged internally for the left and right side. Therefore, a
dynamic and a standard microphone cannot be connected simultaneously (i.e. in parallel) on one side.
3. The ATR833A-II has separate headphone outputs. This allows the separate control of intercom volume and
